Counselling Services
Since the COVID pandemic, online counselling has grown to be as popular as in-person sessions for providing support. While some clients may require face-to-face interaction, others may simply prefer the convenience of virtual meetings. Clinical research demonstrates that online counselling is equally effective as traditional in-person therapy. However, there are important factors to consider when deciding which format best suits your personal needs.

Individual telephone counselling
Telephone counselling is a very accessible remote support option that eliminates the need for travel. All you need is a private space in your own home and a telephone or mobile phone.
For individuals who find video calls challenging, telephone counselling provides a straightforward alternative.
One of the unique benefits of phone-based therapy is the enhanced sense of privacy it offers; speaking without being seen allows some people to open up and share their thoughts much more easily.

Individual video counselling
Online video counselling lets you connect face-to-face, allowing you to pick up on essential facial expressions and body language that help build a strong therapeutic relationship—especially if you are a visual learner.
This approach removes travel time and expenses, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home using a phone, tablet, or laptop.
To make the process as seamless as possible, I use a secure video platform that requires nothing more than clicking a link sent directly to your email, removing any technical stress or complicated login procedures.

Individual in-person counselling
For some people, being physically present is an important part of the counselling process. This can be especially helpful for those who need support with regulating their emotions or who may be feeling isolated and lacking regular social contact.
For in-person counselling I use a private therapy room in Willerby with toilet facilities and good parking close by.
There is also an option to meet locally in an outdoor setting if that helps you to feel more at ease and able to talk.
How do I set up an appointment?
If you are considering booking an appointment with Phil Johnson Counselling, there are three things you need to do.

Contact me
It’s good practice to have a conversation with the person you are considering working with. This gives you a sense of whether you feel you can work together. My contact details are on the contact tab or you can use the contact form. If we feel we can work together I will send you some forms to complete ahead of our first session.
Sign an agreement
The counselling process is underpinned by an agreement or contract which sets out all the agreed details, including the fees, cancellation policy and limits of confidentiality. It can sound a little formal, but it is important for both parties to have a clear understanding of the counselling relationship boundaries. Of course, you can ask any questions if you’re not sure about something.
Secure a session through payment
Sessions are secured when payment has been received. I accept payment via bank transfer and will issue an invoice to confirm the session.
Fees
My fees are ÂŁ50 per session for 50 mins.
